All religions are rooted in fear.

Religion originates in fear of the unknown, and fear of the unexplained.  Monotheism, in particular, has pretty much convinced people that there is a guy sitting in the sky and we must apologise to him for even being human.  And how do religious people conquer this fear of the unknown?  By pretending that they have the ultimate answer, and calling it Faith.  By denying evidence, or the burden of proof.  It is fear which keeps the wheel of religion turning.  Not convinced?
